Tatyana Tools, ARNP, is joining the Pinehurst Medical Clinic (PMC) Rheumatology team. Tools joins the established team of board-certified rheumatology physician Christopher Tracy, MD, FACP, FACR, and advanced practice provider Noreen Russo, PA-C, at 4204 Murdocksville Road in West End.
Tools received her Master of Science as an adult nurse practitioner from the University of Tampa in Fla. and completed her undergraduate degree at Tarrant County University in Fort Worth, Texas.
As a young child, Tools had the opportunity to look up to her mother and grandmother as role models in the medical field. “I loved learning about the human body, pathogenesis of diseases, genetics, and biochemistry,” she stated. “I have read all my mother’s and grandmother’s medical books and journals. I wanted to be like my mother and grandmother, strong intelligent professional women saving the lives of others.”
Tools joins PMC with more than 30 years of experience in the medical field. Over that time, she has been able to develop a care philosophy that is centered around getting to the root cause of the disease and promoting overall health and well-being. “I take a holistic approach in the management of a disease since I prefer to treat the person as a whole, not just the symptoms,” she said. “I educate my patients on disease prevention, disease self-management, and healthy lifestyle, and address other problems or relevant health conditions which could affect my care such as control of diabetes, weight management, and heart disease.”
As a rheumatology advanced practice provider, Tools specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal diseases and systemic autoimmune conditions. This can include rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, ankylosing spondylitis, mixed connective tissue disease, Sjogren's syndrome and more.
Tools has lived on the east and west coast of the country but now calls North Carolina home with her family. She enjoys exploring new places, spending time with family, and is passionate about classical dance and literature.
