A familiar face to Pinehurst Medical Clinic (PMC) is joining PMC Pulmonology – Pinehurst, Carrie Peterson, MS, APRN, FNP-C. Peterson previously served patients at PMC Primary Care – West End, but now joins the established pulmonology team at PMC – East consisting of four board-certified pulmonology physicians, and eight advanced practice providers.
Peterson received her Master of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University in Washington D.C., her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and her Associate Degree in Nursing from Sandhills Community College.
Peterson knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in healthcare after witnessing her mother care for patients as a registered nurse.
Throughout her 25-year career, Peterson has empowered patients through education as she believes it should be a part of every patient care plan. “Education empowers patients to take control of their own health through preventative measures and lifestyle changes,” she said.
Peterson has developed a patient care philosophy that is centered around the relationships she has with her patients stating, “I strive to form strong patient-provider relationships to establish an individualized plan of care that meets each patient’s health goals; based on their individual health needs, values and priorities.”
PMC Pulmonology serves patients at locations in Pinehurst, Sanford and Fayetteville. The team is dedicated to improving lung function and working to prevent, diagnose and treat diseases that affect the respiratory system. These include asthma, acute bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), respiratory failure, lung cancer and more.
When not caring for patients, Peterson enjoys spending time with her family, being at Fripp Island, S.C., staying active, and taking part in her newfound hobby, pickleball.
