Chemical peels are a five step procedure that utilizes All-trans-Retinol to promote exfoliation and peeling of the skin. This treatment is for those looking to brighten and even out their skin tone, minimize pores, smooth out the skin, and improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, dark spots, texture, and discoloration.
There are three types of chemical peels offered to best suit your skin’s needs and goals.
- Universal ($210) – Safe for all skin types and helps to reduce acne, refresh skin that is stressed from the environment, remove dead skin cells, and mild photo damage.
- Fitzpatrick Skin Types I, II, III, V, VI
- Intermediate ($235) – Made for patients with skin that can handle Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, or similar peels and are looking to reduce the look of hyperpigmentation and moderate photo damage.
- Fitzpatrick Skin Types I, II, III
- Advanced ($310) – Best for those with tolerant skin that has been previously exposed to chemical peels, especially the Intermediate Peel.
- Fitzpatrick Skin Types I, II, III
The Fitzpatrick Classification of Skin Types I – VI is as follows:

I |
White or very pale |
Always burns, never tans |
II |

Patients can expect visible peeling within 2-3 days after the procedure and it will last 7-10 days.
For best results, Pinehurst Medical Clinic Dermatology has curated a skin care regimen kit for after the procedure. This includes Pinehurst Medical Clinic Dermatology Rx Gentle Antioxidant Cleanser, Lipid Repair Cream, and the Phyto Multi-Correction Serum.
Chemical peels should be completed in a series of 3 with a minimum of one month separation between each peel.
At Pinehurst Medical Clinic Dermatology, you must have a referral from one of our board-certified dermatology physicians or a consultation with our aesthetics nurse prior to the procedure. This allows you and our team to discuss pre/post-chemical peel skin care instructions, skin goals, and previous chemical peel experience to select the best chemical peel option for your skin type. Chemical peels are available for those ages 12 and up.
Important Pre Treatment Reminders
- Contact lenses cannot be worn during the chemical peel. Pinehurst Medical Clinic Dermatology recommends either wearing glasses to your appointment or bringing a contact lenses case with solution to remove them prior to treatment.
- For improved results, 7-10 days prior to the chemical peel, patients should use a pre-treatment skin care routine that includes a topical retinol or retinoid. Pinehurst Medical Clinic Dermatology recommends using its Physician’s Choice or Essentials Kit for your pre-treatment skin care routine.
Important Post Treatment Reminders
- Patients must stick to the curated skin care routine in the curated kit for 7 – 10 days post-treatment for best results. The kit includes Pinehurst Medical Clinic Dermatology Rx Gentle Antioxidant Cleanser, Lipid Repair Cream, and the Phyto Multi-Correction Serum ($60). In addition to the products in the kit, patients should also be wearing sunscreen.
- Patients can resume normal skin care routine after 7 – 10 days post-treatment.
